Role

Architectural Designer, 3d Modeler & 2D Render, Researcher

The main goal of this project was to utilize Sir David's Chipperfield Architecture Style in creating a Modern-look mosque in Al-Jebahae Amman Jordan, By taking several lines from the context surrounding the Site and collaborating it with design, emphasizing colonnade architecture, while still modern, clean and minimalistic. The other half of the Equation, the Islamic icons of the mosque are Qoba " dome that was at first used structurally to give large spans and evolved to be an icon to mosque's architecture", Qibla wall" the wall that tells people where is the (Qibla) it is often decorated and has the Manbar", Minaret " vertical element that shows the people where the mosque is and used for the call to prayer" and the courtyard "open space used for socializing, flea market and work as extra space if the praying hall is full". So reshaping these icons with minimalistic and colonnade architecture is the way to achieve my goal.

Using three lines from the context, the first one is the qibla wall that determines building orientation. The second one is taken from the Grid of the urban residential area, and the last one is Paralleled by the highway and the amusement park. These three lines will make a triangle courtyard that zones will spread around by adding a wall to reduce noise coming from the highway and as windshield from cars smoke. using a minimalistic hybrid between Minaret and Qoba as a double volume granting a view between the people and the Emam. Emam's residence is close and at the same level as the Mahrab giving him quick access. The library is underground to give it more soundproofing while still open to the outside with a double volume to the courtyard.

A: The Double volume is not just giving visual contact to the Emam but it also works as a skylight to add a dramatic effect (God is light), not that only it works also as an air chimney taking the cold air to replace the hot air that will be exhausted through the skylight. B: The women's praying hall is separated from the men praying hall by making it on a different level and adding a close-range colonnade structure, giving them visual access to the Emam while still giving them privacy. C: Emam's residence is giving privacy using vegetation and a wall while still giving them a pleasant view of a small garden.
